Indiana too much for Jacksonville

Friday, December 28, 2012 - 10:37 pm

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana wasn’t perfect in its final non-conference game, but it didn’t have to be. Not with Jacksonville playing the latest Assembly Hall patsy roll.

The No. 5 Hoosiers (12-1) rolled to a 93-59 victory Friday night behind Jordan Hulls’ perimeter sharpshooting. He hit six three-pointers en route to 20 points. Teammate Cody Zeller had 16 points and five rebounds. Yogi Ferrell set a career high with 10 assists.

Jacksonville (5-8) was led by Dylan Fritsch’s 15 points.

Indiana is 10-0 at Assembly Hall this season. Its closest game was an 83-59 win over North Carolina in early December.

IU got off to another slow start. Jacksonville led 13-11 after seven minutes before the Hoosiers began to assert control.

Hulls was the catalyst. He hit two free throws before going on a three-point shooting onslaught that quickly gave the Hoosiers a double-digit lead.

By halftime, IU led 48-33. Ferrell was impressive with six points, six assists, no turnovers and two steals.

The Hoosiers open Big Ten play at Iowa on Monday.
