Fort Wayne sites offer Christmas tree recycling

Monday, December 31, 2012 - 4:07 pm

The average person generates about 4.5 pounds of trash each day – and 25 percent more during the holidays, according to the Allen County Solid Waste Management District. But opportunities to recycle Christmas trees could help people have a “greener” holiday season.

The district issued a reminder that several locations will be available for Christmas tree recycling through Jan. 18. Trees can be dropped off at the National Serv-All compost site, 6231 MacBeth Road, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturdays. And recycling is available all day through Jan. 18 at the following Fort Wayne sites:

- Allen County highway garage, 2234 Carroll Road

- Foster Park West soccer field parking lot, 5113 Winchester Road

- Foellinger Theatre southwest corner of back parking lot, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

- McMillen Park pool parking lot, Rudisill Boulevard and Abbott Street
