A Fort Wayne City Councilman plans to donate his 2 percent pay increase to charity after opposing the raise for this year, he said Friday.Councilman Geoff Paddock, D-5th, said in a statement that he will donate the raise, amounting to a total of about $400 through 2013, to the United Way of Allen County. Paddock said he will make the donations on a bi-weekly basis throughout the year.

Paddock supported a 2 percent raise for most city employees that was included in the city's 2013 budget, but he opposed the same pay increase for elected officials, including the mayor, council and city clerk.

Council approved the raise for elected officials in December. Before the raise, council members made an annual salary of $21,500.
