Fort Wayne's guards took control as the Mad Ants won their third straight game, this time beating the NBA D-League's best team.

Ron Howard scored 25 points with six assists and three steals and Indiana Pacers assignee Orlando Johnson also scored 25 as the Ants beat Santa Cruz 102-86 on Thursday at Memorial Coliseum.

The guards didn't do it alone, however, as forward Tony Mitchell scored 22 points with 16 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. Newly acquired Luke Harangody and Pacers assignee Miles Plumlee added nine rebounds apiece.

The win improved the Ants to 6-10 while the Warriors slipped to 9-3. The teams meet again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the coliseum.

Fort Wayne took charge with a strong defensive effort after halftime, holding Santa Cruz to 28 second-half points. Stefhon Hannah led Santa Cruz with 27 points and Taylor Griffin added 16.
