Merryman leads Foresters to six straight wins

For the second time this basketball, season. Huntington University junior forward Shane Merryman has stood out with his excellent play.

The Carroll High School graduate was recognized on Thursday as the Crossroads League Player of the Week.

The physical education management major led his team to six straight wins to wrap up the 2012 portion of the Forester schedule.

The 6-foot-5 forward was near perfect on the offensive end during the week of Dec. 17 to 24. He shot 78.1 percent (25-for-32) from the field and missed only one free throw in 23 attempts to pour in 25 points per outing. He also averaged six boards and two assists for the week.

He currently ranks third in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage (67.5) and fourth in scoring (21.56).

The Foresters (10-6, 1-3) are back in action Saturday when they host Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 3 p.m.
