Yes, someday we will retire, but at this time we are on Fairfield Avenue, six days a week helping customers who like to shop in a small neighborhood establishment that gives personal and courteous service. To our customers we wish you happy holidays.
Roger A. Swisher, Sr., president of Stellhorn for 43 yearsIt struck me big time when I heard of beautiful young children who were eagerly following their dreams being killed in the Connecticut shooting. Children who are like my brothers and sisters are now gone, children whose blood is as red as mine, whose blood is as red as all humans.
Moving onto Burma’s ongoing cruelty toward all those Muslims who live there, the world must stand up and say no more to killings. When I hear there are killings in Burma, it makes me question whether we (humans) have hearts or not. Neither any religion nor political views support killings. The world is in demand of love. We must all start to treat each other as brothers and sisters. We must respect each other. I dream of a world full of love.
I must thank The News-Sentinel for their ongoing updates on what’s happening around the globe.
The world needs more love.
Yahya Salah MoburukI believe in our country and what it stands for, and I thank our forefathers who have fought and died so that I can enjoy the freedom I have each day. I, however, find it a terrible disservice when a well-qualified Marine is eliminated from the hiring process to become an Allen County police officer due to the fact that he will be doing his Marine guard duty that testing weekend. I realize there have to be rules in place, but being disqualified for that particular reason I feel is unjustified. The next step in the hiring process was for physical endurance.
If you have any knowledge of what Marines have to endure to finish their Crucible you will know that there are very few physical or mental tests so challenging. It’s too bad this man is skilled and dedicated to protect our great nation, but because he’s doing his U.S. duty as a Marine, he will be cut. Ken Fries, you have lost an excellent candidate to work under you.
