Rising temperatures this week will increase the likelihood that potholes will start forming in Fort Wayne-area roads, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. In a statement issued Monday, the department reminded drivers to report potholes in state routes, interstates and U.S. highways by calling the INDOT Fort Wayne district at 866-227-3555 or emailing neinformation@indot.in.gov.

During the winter, INDOT crews use a “cold mix” of gravel and liquid asphalt as a temporary patch for potholes but cannot make smoother, more permanent repairs until spring, the statement said.

Fort Wayne’s 311 line is available for reports of potholes in city streets.
