Carroll standout inks with Indiana Tech

Crawford to compete in hurdles for Warriors

Wednesday, January 9, 2013 - 12:01 am

One of the top track athletes in northeastern Indiana will continue to compete close to home for her collegiate career.

Carroll High School senior Sara Crawford recently signed a national letter of intent to run track for Indiana Tech.

“We're very excited to keep another local athlete close to home," Warrior coach Scott Edgar said in a release. "Sara has a lot of room left to grow and will see major improvements in her hurdle form next year with our hurdle coach Mark Cammack."

Crawford finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles at the Fort Wayne Regional in 2011 and also ran 21:02 for 5k in her first year ever running cross country during her senior season.

"Additionally, training with our All-American hurdle crew will push her every day in practice and help ease the transition to the 400 hurdles," Edgar said. "I think Sara is in for a very good senior season and will be a huge asset for us next year. We are very excited to add her as she truly understands what it means to be a student-athlete.”

Crawford plans to pursue a degree in education while at Indiana Tech.
