Police alert: Six robberies at Fort Wayne apartments in less than a day

In less than 24 hours Monday and Tuesday, armed robbers committed six robberies at four different apartment complexes, Fort Wayne police said Thursday. No one was hurt in the robberies, and police believe the crimes are related.The times, dates, locations and circumstances of the robberies are:

– 10:58 p.m. Monday, 5127 Stonehedge Blvd, Canterbury Apartments. A male and female victim reported being approached at the entrance of the apartment building by two male black subjects; both subjects were armed with handguns and robbed the victims of iPhones, purse, wallet, credit cards, and cash. No injuries were reported.

– 12 a.m. Tuesday, 2026 Ardmore Ave., Wildwood Apartments. A female victim said that shortly after walking into her apartment building, two male black subjects entered the building also; of them had a handgun. The two forced the victim into her apartment at gunpoint. One subject held the victim at gunpoint while the second subject searched around the home. Reported loss included credit cards, cash and a notebook computer. No injuries were reported.

– 8:24 p.m. Tuesday, 6416 Covington Rd., Colony Bay Apartments. A female victim said she was approached by two male black subjects as she was checking for mail at the mailbox. Both subjects were armed with handguns and robbed the victim of her purse and cell phone. No injuries reported.

– 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, 2122 Ardmore Ave., Wildwood Apartments. A male victim said he was forced into his apartment at gunpoint by two male black subjects, who took various household items. No injuries reported.



– 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, 5415 N. Clinton St., Gardenview Apartments. A male victim said he was approached at his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment building by two male black subjects, both armed with handguns. They robbed him of his iPhone, wallet and keys, he told police. No injuries reported.

– 9:34 p.m. Tuesday, 5415 N. Clinton St., Gardenview Apartments. A female victim reported being approached at her vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot by a single male black subject who was armed with a handgun and robbed the victim of her purse containing her wallet, credit cards, cash, and other miscellaneous personal items. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Fort Wayne Police encourage all residents to park in well-lit areas, to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious persons, vehicles, and/or activity. Investigators believe these incidents to be related and ask anyone with information to contact Fort Wayne Police at (260) 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 237-STOP [7867].
