Friday, January 11, 2013 - 3:43 pm

Police have arrested a Fort Wayne man in connection with two armed robberies that occurred within a 13-minute span Monday on the city's south side.

Justin M. Alexander, 33, faces five charges, including two counts of robbery, after he allegedly followed a woman from a nearby gas station and robber her at gunpoint in the 2100 block of Fairfield Avenue at about 5:04 a.m. Monday. Then, at about 5:17 a.m., he allegedly robbed a gas station in the 7400 block of South Anthony Boulevard, police said.

Crime Stoppers received several tips about the woman's robbery after police released surveillance images of the robber, said Officer Raquel Foster, a Fort Wayne Police spokeswoman, in a statement.

At about 1:11 a.m. Friday, before detectives had identified Alexander as the alleged robber, he became involved in a police pursuit that ended when his car crashed into the porch of a home in the 700 block of Madison Street, the statement said.
