Matt Lindsay's son Kyle named new Bishop Luers football head coach

Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 2:11 am

Kyle Lindsay will take over the job his father once held before being fired as the head coach of the four-time defending state champion Bishop Luers football team.

Bishop Luers announced Friday afternoon that Lindsay was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach for the 2013 season.

The coaching announcement comes almost four months after the school fired Lindsay's father, Matt Lindsay, as the head coach because of inappropriate videos were found on his computer.

After Matt Lindsay left the team, Kyle Lindsay was named the interim head coach for one game during the regular season. However, the school days later named former head coach Steve Keefer the head coach for the rest of the season.

With Keefer as its head coach, Bishop Luers went undefeated and won the IHSAA Class 2A state championship in November.

This will be Kyle Lindsay's first head coaching job at the high school level. The Bishop Luers graduate served as the Knights' offensive coordinator for multiple seasons and helped guide the team to four straight state titles.
