A second person has died from injuries sustained in a Friday morning crash in DeKalb County.

Indiana State Police said in a news release Friday that a 1996 Jeep and a 1993 Lincoln crashed head-on about 8:30 a.m. on a curve on Indiana 1, just north of the Allen-DeKalb county line.

Ryan K. Turner, 45, of Butler, was killed in the crash, and Aiyana Mills, 13, was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition. Both were passengers in the Lincoln, which was driven by Melissa Mills, 33, of Fort Wayne – Turner in the front seat, Aiyana Mills in the back.

Aiyana Mills, according to a news release issued Saturday afternoon, died earlier this afternoon.

The Jeep they collided with was driven by Ashley L. Crow, 28, of St. Joe. Crow had internal injuries and Melissa Mills had a head injury, police said, and both were taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, but their condition was not available Friday afternoon.

Police said that because of discrepancies in driver accounts and witness statements, Indiana State Police crash reconstructionists were called to assist in this investigation. Their findings are still pending. State Road 1 between the County Line and County Road 68 was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation and subsequent clean-up.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, DeKalb County EMS and Spencerville, Concord Township and Garret Fire departments helped at the crash scene.
