Fort Wayne Police Department detectives have asked for the public's help in identifying a man videotaped during a gas-station robbery Jan. 2.

They say the man in the accompanying surveillance clip entered the store, 4233 N. Clinton St., at about 7:25 a.m. The man sought by police entered the gas station store, browsed the store, then approached the counter as if to make a purchase. Instead, the man brandished a handgun and demanded cash from the register.

After the robbery, the man went south on foot, police said. There were no injuries reported at the scene. Detectives have obtained in-store video of the robbery suspect and are asking for anyone knowing the identity or whereabouts of the suspect to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (7867).

The suspect was described by witnesses as a stocky black male, approximately 6 feet tall, and is seen in the following video clip wearing a dark "poofy" coat and a dark-colored winter hat with gray fur lining.
