An 82-year-old driver told police he fell asleep before crashing into a parked garbage truck before noon Tuesday, according to a Noble County Sheriff's Department news release.

The older driver was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center with complaint of pain after the 11:23 a.m. Tuesday crash, according to the release.

The man's 1996 Chevy Astro van rear-ended a 2007 Freightliner that was stopped to pick up garbage on Wolf Lake Road at County Road 100 South, according to the release. The 27-year-old truck driver was not injured.
