According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the man said he and his wife were returning home and were in the apartment parking lot. He noticed a man standing by the dumpster. His wife said there was another man near Getz Road looking into cars. He and his wife had just been talking about all the robberies and walking toward their apartment when the man near the dumpster waved what the man thought was a small shotgun or a rifle at them that had a 2-foot barrel.
The man with the gun asked for their money. The man said he told the man he didn't have any and they started to run. He said the man chased after him and hit him twice with the gun, but he kept running. His wife had called 911 by then, and once he got in the apartment hallway the man ran west and then south. The officer called in a K-9 unit but nothing was found.A man was robbed in his carport Saturday night around 8 p.m. at Canterbury Green apartments.
According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the victim said he was putting the cover on the bed of his vehicle under the carport when a man approached him. The suspect ordered him to the ground while pointing a gun at him.
The man gave him his cell phone, car keys and $11 in bills and change. The suspect told the man to stay on the ground while counting slowly. The man fled on foot to the south and then was heard starting a car parked in an adjacent carport. The car was described as a dark brown four-door older model passenger car. The suspect was described as being dressed in a dark hooded sweater shirt and sweat pants. The man said the suspect had a goatee and was slender in build, possibly 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Officer searched the area but found nothing.
