INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Mike Pence has turned to an attorney with health care regulatory experience to run the Family and Social Services Administration as it implements the looming Medicaid expansion.

Pence also named his director of the State Agriculture Department Thursday.

Pence tapped Debra Minott to be secretary of FSSA, which administers Medicaid, food stamps and other benefits and services to seniors, children, people with disabilities and those who are mentally ill.

Minott has been vice president and associate general counsel for Batesville medical device maker and was former Gov. Mitch Daniels' state personnel director.

Pence says Minott has experience "and compassionate heart" to ensure FSSA meets the needs of its clients.

Pence named Gina Sheets to the agriculture post. She's been director of economic development and international trade at the agency.
