Fort Wayne Police investigating a shooting Saturday afternoon found one man dead and a second wounded. At around 4:12 p.m., officers responded to the 7900 block of Serenity Drive and found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, said FWPD spokesman Officer Chris Felton. One man was found inside a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical workers. The other man was found inside an apartment building and was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

Investigators are trying to determine what took place, and had no suspects or anyone in custody early Saturday evening. Investigators were interviewing several witnesses and neighbors, and crime scene technicians were analyzing and collecting evidence.

Investigators are asking anyone who was present and might have left before police arrived to contact police.

The Allen County coroner’s office will determine and release the identity and exact cause and manner of death for the dead man.

The 7900 block of Serenity remained closed to traffic while police investigated.

This crime remains under investigation by the FWPD, coroner’s office, and the Allen County prosecutor's office.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority assisted in the case.
