Man's death on Serenity Drive declared homicide

The death of a man found shot on Serenity Drive on Saturday afternoon has been declared a homicide.

An autopsy Sunday morning determined that the man, identified as Jermaine D. Foster, 30, of Fort Wayne, died of a gunshot wound or wounds, according to the Allen County coroner's office, which does not release how many times a homicide victim was shot.

Foster's death is the second homicide of 2013 in Fort Wayne and Allen County.

According to Fort Wayne Police, officers were called at 4:12 p.m. Saturday to the report of a shooting in the 7900 block of Serenity. There, they found Foster in a vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene, according to Officer Chris Felton, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman on Saturday.

A second man found in an apartment building has not been identified. He was take to a hospital in serious condition with what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound.

The shootings are being investigated by the FWPD, coroner's office, and the county prosecutor's office.
