Bellmont speedster signs with Indiana Tech

Harvey has competed at state finals three years

The Indiana Tech women's track program recently added another piece to its sprinting puzzle.Bellmont High School senior Alexis Harvey signed to compete for the Warrior program in 2013.

"We have had our eye on Alexis for several years now," Indiana Tech coach Scott Edgar said in a release. "We have watched her develop into one of the premier runners in Indiana."

Harvey is an accomplished sprinter, who owns career-best times of 12.2 (100 meters), 24.8 (200 meters), and has split :56 on her team’s 1,600-meter relay.

As a junior, she finished third in the 200-meter race and ninth as a member of the 1,600-meter relay.

As a sophomore, she was fourth in the 200 meters and 10th in the 100 meters.

Harvey has qualified for the IHSAA State Finals each year. As a freshman, she qualified for state in the 200 meters and finished seventh as a member of the 1,600-meter relay.

"She is a hard worker and someone that can compete at the college level right away," Edgar said. "We are very excited to add her personality to the program."
