IPFW volleyball opens homestead with sweep vs. Lourdes

Middle attacker Bryan Saunders had a team-high 11 kills as the IPFW men's volleyball team swept Lourdes 25-22, 27-25, 25-20 on Friday at the Gates Center to open its three-match homestand.

Saunders was one of two Mastodons (3-2, 0-0 MIVA) to have double-digit kills against the NAIA school. Outside attacker Anthony Randolph added 10 kills and a match-high five blocks.

IPFW in the victory also had a season-high eight aces, including three aces from both outside attacker Eddie Rivera and setter Omar Rivera.

Despite getting swept, Lourdes (1-2) out-hit IPFW .299 to .233. In addition, outside attacker Nick DiMarco led all players with 12 kills in the loss.

With this victory, the Mastodons moves above .500 for the second time this season.

IPFW will continue its homestead as it opens MIVA season against Lindenwood at 7 p.m. Friday.
