End this holocaust
Much has been said recently about the 26 murders at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut and the 12 murders at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater.
According to Wikipedia, about 11 million were murdered in the Nazi Holocaust (including 6 million Jews); 2 million were killed in the Cambodian Holocaust; and there were about 1.4 million U.S. deaths in all of the U.S. wars (Civil War’s 625,000 was largest).
But abortion numbers overwhelm by far these massacres, holocausts and wars. An article in Life News dated Jan. 18, based on an analysis through 2011 by the National Right to Life Committee which drew from statistics available from the Guttmacher Institute and the Centers for Disease Control, estimates there have been more than 55.7 million legal U.S. abortions from 1973 through 2012, an average of over 3,800 abortions per day. Over the last six years, Fort Wayne has averaged 567 abortions per year.
Embryos should be precious to us because they are precious to God, who creates them (for some examples, see Jeremiah 1:4-5; Isaiah 43:1, 44:1-2; Job 10:8-12; Psalm 51:5, 119: 73, 139:13-16; Luke 1:39-44; Exodus 21:22-25). The Bible offers forgiveness for those who have had abortions; it teaches us to be caring and have compassion.
Medical textbooks and scientific reference works overwhelmingly agree that life begins at conception. Each of our lives begins at conception as a one-celled embryo called a zygote, whose genetic code differs from our mother’s. Our hearts start beating at three weeks. At six weeks, we have a sense of touch.
Jan. 22 was the 40th anniversary of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. When will we finally end this Roe v. Wade holocaust of the most innocent and defenseless humans?
Don't justify evil
An article in a Fort Wayne newspaper recently extolled the life of a person who was greatly involved in the destruction of 28,000 innocent lives in our city. The honoring of this person by several so-called Christian organizations is an example of what God has said about false prophets. Those who condemn the righteous and those who justify the evil are both an abomination to God. What is more of an abomination to the giver of life, than the destroyer of life? I cannot believe anyone can sanction the killing of the unborn and consider it pleasing to Christ Jesus. I am calling upon those organizations that have been misled to ask Almighty God for his forgiveness and to publicly confess their sin.
