Monday, January 28, 2013 - 9:51 am

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a reported shooting Sunday evening in which the victim later died.

Officers from the police department were dispatched around 7:48 p.m. to the 2500 block of South Hanna Street to investigate a report of a shooting, according to a news release. Upon arrival in the area, officers found a man who, according to the release, appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the release said.

There is no suspect information at this time, according to the release, and the police department is seeking information about the incident. Those who can help can contact the Detective Bureau at 427-1201 or call Crime Stoppers.

An autopsy will be performed by the Allen County Coroner’s Office and it is expected that the person’s identity will be released upon completion.

If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the third in Allen County in 2013.
