WARSAW — Police say a crosswind caused a small plane to go out of control at Warsaw's airport, but neither the pilot nor his passenger was injured.
The single-propeller Mooney M201 was stopping to refuel Sunday morning at the Warsaw Municipal Airport on a flight from Marblehead, Ohio, to Grand Rapids, Mich.
The pilot, Thomas Kowalczk, 63, of Marblehead, told Warsaw police the wind tipped his plane as he prepared to land and a wing touched the ground, causing the plane to bounce and crash. Damage to the plane included a broken wing.
Officers say Thomas and his 42-year-old son, Brian, were not hurt.
