Former Councilman Redd's funeral set for Saturday

A funeral service for former Fort Wayne City Councilman Charles Redd, who died Sunday, has been set for Saturday.

The service will be at noon Saturday at Turner Chapel AME Church, 836 E. Jefferson Blvd., with a burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, according to Redd's obituary. Calling will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday and two hours before the funeral Saturday.

Redd, 82, was a longtime civil rights activist and had served as director of the Fort Wayne Urban League. Until his death, he also served on the board of the Fort Wayne Housing Authority and Headwaters Park Alliance.
