INDIANAPOLIS — Former Indiana University basketball starter Devan Dumes has surrendered to face an attempted murder charge in connection with an alleged carjacking attempt following an earlier arrest.
WRTV-TV reports the 26-year-old Dumes being held in jail Wednesday to face the charge alleging a Jan. 11 incident in which a man was shot in the neck. An initial court hearing was set for Thursday.
Dumes already faced charges from a Jan. 9 incident in which police say he fired a handgun at a house while his brother and 1-year-old nephew were inside. He's also charged in a May 2012 incident in which he allegedly beat an ex-girlfriend.
Dumes does not yet have an attorney.
Dumes was a basketball star at Decatur Central High School before playing at IU through 2010.
