Parkview Field building new '400 Club' suite

The addition to the baseball park will be done in May

Wednesday, January 30, 2013 - 3:55 pm

Parkview Field will offer a new viewpoint for TinCaps baseball games this summer.

The "400 Club,” a soon-to-be-built suite in centerfield, is set to open in mid-May, the team announced Wednesday.

The team described the new addition in a news release:

The 400 Club will replace the existing batter's eye with a 75-foot long wall of windows on top of the existing center-field wall. The windows will be part of a shaded structure that can, via five retractable overhead doors, be open air or enclosed. The area will include tiered table-top seating, a large bar, flat-screen televisions, food service and an outdoor patio.

Replacing the existing fence-and-windscreen batters-eye with a wall of windows will allow the field to be seen from every angle around the ballpark concourse.

The 400 Club will house up to 150 fans and will be available to groups or individuals. The TinCaps reported that more than a dozen dates were reserved after the new addition was announced. The suite, which the TinCaps say is the first of its kind in minor-league baseball, will be financed by a private investment of $800,000.

Construction will begin immediately, weather permitting.

"It would be very easy to sit back and be satisfied with Parkview Field as it is," TinCaps president Mike Nutter said in a statement. "It has been flattering to receive awards for ballpark design, food offerings, and entertainment, but our staff doesn't work for recognition or awards.

“The TinCaps are focused on delivering the best possible fan experience for all fans each and every game. The 400 Club will provide a new and exciting experience at Parkview Field that will add to the overall game atmosphere."

Nutter said the team plans to have the 400 Club open by May 22.

Group sales are already underway for the 2013 season, with individual ticket sales beginning on Feb. 16.
