The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating two reported Friday morning robberies at gas stations and has released photos from one of the incidents that clearly show one of the perpetrators pointing a gun at a clerk's face.
The incidents were reported at 4:46 a.m. and 6:48 a.m., at a BP station and Marathon station, respectively, according to a news release.
The first robbery was reported at the BP located at 909 E. Coliseum Blvd., according to the release. Officers were dispatched to the area in order to investigate an unknown problem; upon arrival, they determined that an armed robbery had taken place.
In that incident, investigators were told that a clerk was cleaning when a man approached, pointed a gun at his head and demanded money. Investigators were also told that another suspect was removing the cash register at that time and that he was struck multiple times by the armed robber.
The robbers then fled with the cash register, according to the release.
The second incident reportedly took place at the Marathon station located at 6520 Lima Road, with roughly the same scenario at the start: One of the robbers pointed a gun at a clerk's head and demanded money. In this incident, according to the news release, the clerk opened the cash register and gave the drawer to the robbers, who then fled.
The FWPD believes the two robberies are connected, perpetrated by the same two individuals. One suspect is described as being in his early 20s, between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.
The other suspect is described as slim and with no facial hair and wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. He is described as being in his early 20s, as well, and between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
