A woman sought in connection with the robbery of a Walgreens customer has been taken into custody, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
Traci L. Dennison, 36, was arrested late Sunday morning by the Fort Wayne Police Department on warrants relating to the armed robbery and attempted robbery at Walgreens on Indiana 1.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, Dennison allegedly went into Walgreens and approached the cash register with an item. When the cashier scanned the item, Dennison allegedly pointed a black handgun at the worker and demanded cash, police said in a statement.
After the worker tried unsuccessfully to open the cash drawer, Dennison allegedly turned to a female customer behind her and demanded the woman's purse at gunpoint, the statement said. Dennison then allegedly fled the store with the purse, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and several credit cards.
At the time of the robbery, the suspect was identified only as a woman who appeared to be in her early 20s, but police identified her as Dennison with help from the public, the statement said.
