Sunday, February 3, 2013 - 9:11 am

Five people escaped a duplex fire just before midnight Saturday.

Fort Wayne firefighters responded at 11:54 p.m. to a report of an attic fire in the 1000 block of Delaware Avenue. The downstairs resident noticed smoke, called the fire department and got out with two children, according to a news release. Firefighters woke up two adults in the upstairs apartment, who escaped.

The fire was in the attic and was quickly put out. The blaze caused moderate damage. The cause is under investigation.
