The Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend early this afternoon announced funeral arrangements for Bishop Emeritus John M. D'Arcy, who died Sunday after suffering from cancer.
Here is the schedule:
*Wednesday: Reception of the body and Morning Prayer at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend, will begin at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. A Mass of Transferral celebrated by Bishop Kevin Rhoades will begin at 7 p.m.
*Thursday: Reception of the body and Morning Prayer at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, will begin at 10 a.m., with visitation throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. Evening Prayer is scheduled for 7 p.m.
*Friday: Visitation of the body will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at the cathedral. A reception for all will immediately follow at the Grand Wayne Convention Center.
The Rite of Committal, or burial, will be conducted privately with the family in the crypt of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Radio coverage planned
Local Catholic radio station Redeemer Radio, WLYV, 1450-AM and 89.9-FM, will provide some live coverage as well as special programs each day this Wednesday through Friday. Here is the schedule:
Wednesday
*6 p.m.: Special program consisting of portions of past Redeemer Radio interviews with late Bishop Emeritus John M. D'Arcy
*7 p.m.: Live coverage of diocese's evening Mass of Transferal from St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend
Thursday
*6 p.m.: Special program with more past Redeemer Radio interviews with Bishop D'Arcy
*7 p.m.: Live coverage of diocese's evening prayer service from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne
Friday
*10 a.m.: Redeemer Radio special retrospective program on Bishop D'Arcy and his years as bishop of the diocese
*11:50 a.m.: Live coverage of the the funeral Mass of Bishop D'Arcy from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne
