WFFT-TV could resume broadcasting FOX programming March 1

Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 6:09 pm

WFFT-TV, which for years broadcasted programming from national network FOX until losing the rights in August 2011, announced Wednesday that it will resume broadcasting FOX shows as of March 1.

A call to confirm the news was placed to the television network, but after business hours.

Since moving from WFFT, FOX programming has been shown on Granite Broadcasting's MyFOX Fort Wayne, channel 33.2.

In a news release posted on news website fortwaynehomepage.net, Nexstar Broadcasting Group – the parent company of WFFT – said, “In addition to FOX's popular primetime lineup, viewers in the Fort Wayne area will also have access to their favorite news, local lifestyle and community-focused programming in full HD on WFFT LOCAL, as well as live, interactive content through the FortWayneHomePage.net and Fort Wayne Now web and mobile platforms.”

The news release said WFFT, channel 55.1, will air FOX's prime-time lineup from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. FOX also has national broadcast rights to sports leagues and events such as Major League Baseball, the National Football League, NASCAR, the World Series and Daytona 500, as well being in the rotation to televise the Super Bowl.
