The USPS introduced the village post office model last year as a way to maintain retail services in rural areas. Village post offices are run by local businesses contracting with the USPS to offer stamps, flat-rate shipping and other services available at full post offices.
A village post office also was scheduled to open Wednesday in Wolf Lake in Noble County. That office, at the Wolf Lake Marathon station, 1445 U.S. 33, was scheduled to open at 10 a.m. The new offices are the 28th and 29th village post offices in the USPS Greater Indiana district, the news release said.
