Chung King reopens
Five months after closing due to a fire, Chung King Express, 3101 N. Anthony Blvd., has reopened. Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday; closed Sundays. The restaurant is drive-through and carry-out only, and only takes cash. Phone: 471-1288.
I noticed the Bulldog Pub last week when I drove through New Haven. Located at 615 Broadway St., New Haven, it's been open since July, but General Manager Cindy Bryant says it's been hard to build the business.
Formerly called Across the Tracks, Bryant says it's been remodeled and is under new management. The pub serves burgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, but their niche is Mexican food. Hours are 11 a.m.-close (usually around 10 p.m.) Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-around midnight Friday; noon-around midnight Saturday; and noon-around 10 p.m. Sundays. Phone: 493-7000.
Food truck event
•At noon Thursday, Valentine's Day, the Ragin' Cajun Food Truck will be at Parkview Field to participate in the “One Billion Rising Fort Wayne” event along with JumBy's JoiNt and Bravas food trucks. All three trucks will donate a portion of their sales to this cause, which aims to draw attention to violence and abuse against women.
Sister Cities taste
Food representing all four of Fort Wayne's sister cities will be prepared by chef Jim Martin, formerly of Catablu and the Blu Tomato, for A Taste of Fort Wayne Sister Cities.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Holiday Inn at IPFW, 4111 Paul Shaffer Drive, across from Memorial Coliseum. It features a buffet of foods from sister cities Takaoka, Japan; Gera, Germany; Plock, Poland; and Taizhou, China. There will be a cash bar, silent auction, awards ceremony and music, and Mayor Tom Henry will speak.
Cost is $50 per person in advance (with paid reservations by Wednesday), $55 at the door, or $1,000 for a corporate table for eight. Proceeds benefit Fort Wayne Sister Cities International. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
