Letter to the editor: Obama qualifications still not confirmed

Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 12:01 am

President Obama has spent close to $2 million on 12 different lawyers in an effort to seal all of his personal records. The question the American people should be asking is: Why would Obama want to hide his personal records? What does he have to hide? Moreover, just who is Barack Obama?

The United States Senate, prior to the 2008 presidential election, thought it necessary to question the constitutional qualifications of then-Republican presidential candidate Sen. John Sidney McCain III. Sen. McCain’s record was clear. He was a Naval pilot in the Vietnam War. He was also a POW. He was wounded in this war, and he is an American hero. Both McCain’s father and his grandfather were four-star naval admirals. McCain’s mother, Reberta, was born in Muskogee, Okla., in 1912. This is the family that the Senate committee headed by Democratic Sens. Patrick Leahy and Clair McCaskill chose to investigate rather than investigating Sen. Obama. No effort was made to verify the constitutional qualifications of then-Sen. Obama.

Since President Obama’s election in 2008 and extending through his current re-election, numerous court challenges have been made to his constitutional qualifications and many books have been written exposing Obama’s questionable past. These court challenges have been systematically denied at every judicial level, including the Supreme Court. On Nov. 11, 2010, The Congressional Research Service, a part of the United States Congress, issued a memo to the Congress to prepare them to rebut and defuse questions constituents were asking regarding Obama’s eligibility under the “natural born citizen” requirement of the Constitution. Clearly, neither the Congress nor the Supreme Court wants any involvement in determining Obama’s eligibility to serve as president. The only logical conclusion to this inaction is that they are afraid of the truth and the actions it may trigger. It is now up to the American people to push for the truth through both our state governments and our elected members of Congress. All we are asking for is a confirmation of Obama’s constitutional qualifications to be president.
