On person – possibly the manager of the PNC Bank on Coventry Lane – was handcuffed during a robbery by three people early Thursday morning.

Fort Wayne Police officers were dispatched at 9:15 a.m. to the bank, 5610 Coventry Lane, after a report of a bank robbery was made, according to a news release from the police department.

Initial investigation indicates three men dressed in black hoodies, armed with handguns and with their faces covered, entered the bank and ordered bank employees to get on the ground, according to the release. Police scanner traffic indicated that the manager was handcuffed during the incident.

The robbers fled through the rear of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, the release said.

All three had handguns, and police reported that they found one handgun at the scene. Soon after the robbery, police were told that all three robbers were about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. According to the news release, two of the robbers were wearing dark-colored, hooded sweat shirts; the other was wearing a light-colored, hooded sweat shirt.

There were no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery and no injuries were reported, though one person was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.

This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force.
