MARION — An autopsy has found that a 2-year-old Marion girl who apparently died from neglect suffered flash burns from a chemical on her head, chest and back.
An autopsy report released Thursday found the burns suffered by Arianna Carmack were non-life threatening but a contributing factor in her death. The autopsy by Grant County Coroner Stephen Dorsey also found the girl had multiple bruises on her legs that were healing.
Marion police called to her family's home Wednesday night found her unresponsive. Police initially said the burns resulted from scalding.
The live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother, 27-year-old Donald Riddle, has been jailed on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Jail records don't indicate if he has an attorney.
