The Komets lost 4-2 to the Evansville IceMen on Saturday night. Here are five keys to the defeat.
1. Can't win at home.
The Komets continue to struggle at home where they are 11-14 this season. They have lost four of their last six games at Memorial Coliseum.
2. Can't find any offense.
The Komets didn't score on their chances, including a penalty shot and a couple of opportunities in front. They have scored only 22 goals in their last nine games, and 13 of those game in two games.
3. They didn't take the body.
Even though it's been long established that the way to take out the IceMen is by playing physically, the Komets didn't do it consistently. That allowed the IceMen to play the tempo they wanted.
4. Dainton's double
Evansville goaltender Paul Dainton played very well, again. After making 37 saves Friday night in Evansville, he came back on Saturday to make 28 saves. He's 3-1 against the Komets this season.
5. Futile power play
The Komets' power play continues to struggle, being held scoreless in four chances. Fort Wayne hasn't scored in its last 19 chances with the advantage. They have scored only six goals in their last 83 power-play chances.
