Felony charges for Fort Wayne man for alleged stickup at residence

Thursday, February 21, 2013 - 4:55 pm

A Fort Wayne man accused of being part of a two-man team that entered a residence and held those inside at gunpoint now faces two felony charges.

Calvin L. Miller, 22, is charged with Class B felony robbery and Class B felony criminal confinement, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed Thursday in Allen Superior Court. The charges stem from an alleged incident from Jan. 14, when Miller and another unidentified person are accused of knocking on the front door of a residence, where a 7-year-old boy let them in, according to the affidavit.

Upon gaining entry, Miller and the other person allegedly went toward the kitchen, with the other person pulling out a handgun. The 7-year-old boy’s mother then ran out of the kitchen, grabbed the child and then ran upstairs to where another child was located, according to the affidavit.

Meanwhile, the two men held the gun on a man in the kitchen and asked him “where the stuff was at,” according to the affidavit, which later said that the men were looking for “weed.” The men were told there was none in the residence.

Miller, according to the affidavit, followed the mother and children upstairs and ordered them to go back down, according to the affidavit. The person holding the gun allegedly told the gathered individuals that he was going to look for the drugs and that if he found it, “he was going to kill them all,” the affidavit said.

The man returned from his search and again threatened to shoot everyone, according to the affidavit, while Miller allegedly disconnected a video-game console from the wall. The two men allegedly took two cellphones and the game console before fleeing.

The affidavit said that Miller was thought to be a suspect during the course of the investigation and was picked out of a photo array because of a distinctive tattoo on his face.
