•12th annual Tri-State Conservation Farming Expo will be March 1 at the National Military History Museum, near Auburn. Speakers include Rodney Rulon, no-till farmer; Dr. Kevin King, agricultural engineer with the USDA Agricultural Research Services; Dr. Bryan Young, professor of weed science and agronomy with Southern Illinois University; Dr. Fred Whitford, coordinator, Purdue pesticide programs and Matt Pearson, fertilizer section manager, Office of the Indiana State Chemist and Seed Commissioner. Tickets are $20 and include a light breakfast, BBQ dinner and afternoon snacks. Tickets will be available at the door. Continuing education credits for private applicators, commercial applicators and certified crop advisers are available for $10 processing fee. •Community Harvest Food Bank Gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. March 9 at the Hotel Fort Wayne Ballroom, (formerly the Fort Wayne Marriott). Theme will be pearls the traditional symbol of the 30th anniversary. Master and Mistress of ceremonies will be Charly Butcher of WOWO, 1190-AM, and Melissa Long of WPTA, Channel 21. A live and silent auction and presentation of the 2013 Charles B. Fine Friend of the Food Bank Award will be featured. A casual auction preview will be held at 5:30-7 p.m. March 8 for those unable to attend the Gala. Proxy bids can be placed on Friday night at the preview or by calling 447-3696, Ext. 322.
