O'Reilly's Irish Bar and Restaurant opened Thursday inside the Harrison, 301 W. Jefferson Blvd. The eatery will be open 11 a.m.-3 a.m. seven days a week. Taste of Waynedale
The fifth annual Taste of Waynedale will be 4:30-7 p.m. March 19 at Kingston Residence, 7515 Winchester Road. More than 25 local restaurants and businesses will offer samples of food and drinks. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. Proceeds will go to the Community Harvest Food Bank and the Fort Wayne Trails-Waynedale initiative, an effort to get trails in the Waynedale area. Asakusa to open second eatery
Asakusa Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar on Lima Road is opening a second location at 6401 W. Jefferson Blvd., in the Village at Time Corners. It is expected to open sometime within the first two weeks of April.
Toscani Pizzeria, 120 W. Wayne St., is offering the following dinner special starting at 5 p.m. every night through March: sausage or cheese saccotino, which is a small pouchlike filled pasta. The dinner special includes the sausage or cheese saccotino, a mini salad and bread. A full order is $11.99 and a half-order is $8.99.

Middle Eastern dinner
The Special Cuisines class at Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast is serving a Middle Eastern buffet Thursday, including foods such as baba ghannouj, cold cucumber yogurt soup, lemon couscous with peas and carrots, and baklava. Reservations are required.
The dinners are served on Ivy Tech's Coliseum campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd.; enter door 24 on the north side of the building. Cost is $20 per person, cash or check only. Wine is available at an extra cost per glass. Reservations are taken for times between 5 and 6:30 p.m. and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Laura Wilson from La Dolce Vita, 112 N. Main St., Roanoke, is serving Dinner with Friends at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast is seeking submissions for the college library's seventh annual Edible Book Festival noon-2 p.m. April 1 at the college's Student Life Center on the North Campus, 4900 St. Joe Road.
Book and food lovers are invited to create and display “edible books” — dishes based on a book or a pun of a book title.
Edible books will be on display for public viewing noon-1 p.m., then eaten by attendees 1-2 p.m.

Satek wins award
Satek Winery's 101 Lakes Red, a semisweet red wine, recently won a gold medal at the 2013 Florida State Fair International Wine and Grape Juice Competition. Satek also claimed two silver medals and three bronze, winning medals with all six entries to the Florida competition. Satek is in Fremont.
