Indiana Tech men dip spot in lacrosse poll

Warriors to open home season Friday

Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 12:01 am

The Indiana Tech men’s lacrosse team dropped one spot to No. 11 in the most recent edition of the MCLA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll released Tuesday.

The Warriors began their 2013 season over the weekend against two top 10 ranked teams – No. 6 North Dakota State University and No. 1 University of St. Thomas. Tech trailed NDSU 13-12 entering the fourth quarter, but the Bison shut out the Warriors over the final 15 minutes while scoring three times to hand Tech a 16-12 defeat.

Against St. Thomas, the Warriors held the defending national champs to just seven goals, and only one in the second half, but couldn’t get much going offensively and fell 7-1.

Through the first two games, Craig Schaepkens (Davison, MI/Davison) has four goals and two assists while Dan Schaepkens (Davison, MI/Davison) has scored three times. Dylan Johnston (Oshawa, Ont./All Saints) has one goal to go along with a team-high three assists and has picked up nine groundballs.

The Warriors will host No. 14 Liberty University in their home opener at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15.
