Albion teen dies in single-vehicle crash Saturday evening

Sunday, March 10, 2013 - 6:21 pm

A 17-year-old from Albion died Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Noble County, authorities there report.

The Noble County Sheriff's Department said Kaleb R. Luce was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. The department said that first responders were called at 6:10 p.m. to Wolf Lake Road between Baseline Road and Noble County Road 100 North. Luce, who had been driving and was alone, had been thrown from his vehicle, an Explorer Sport Trac.

Investigators said the Explorer was headed northeast on Wolf Lake Road when, for an unknown reason, it went off the southeast side of the road. They said he overcorrected, went off the northwest side of the road and hit an embankment, flipping the vehicle and throwing him from it.

The sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by the Noble County EMS, Noble Township Fire Department, Albion Fire Department and Noble County Coroner's Office.
