'Old Vic' showed up on Sunday

Monday, March 11, 2013 12:01 am
IU guard Victor Oladipo talked to the media after Sunday's 72-71 victory at Michigan that gave the Hoosiers the outright Big Ten title.“It seemed like it was hanging there 2.5 to 3 hours. I'm kind of speechless. It's been a crazy run. We've had our share of ups and downs. This team comes together. I'm so proud of my teammates. They did a phenomenal job.”“I was just trying to make him tired and slow him down. Picking him up full court and denying his touches, get him out rhythm. He's a phenomenal player. He hit big shots. Tough shots. It was a good overall victory. I wasn't the only one guarding him. We had fresh bodies banging on him. It was a good overall win.”“The last couple of games I wasn't myself. I wasn't playing at a high level. Coach Crean wanted to get back to the old Vic that my teammates need from me to win. Play defense at a high level, leading and doing whatever it takes to win. It was a variety of emotions. It just came out.”“It's a crazy feeling. That's the reason why I came here. To be known as one of the greats. It's the reason why Indiana came back, to be a part of that. I couldn't have done it without these guys. I really couldn't have done it without Cody Zeller, Jordan Hulls, Mo Creek, Christian Watford, everybody. God brought us all together so we could accomplish something better than ourselves. These guys did a wonderful job. They work hard every day. They deserve it.”“I've been saying all year long Cody should be player of the year. If you guys don't give it to him, no disrespect, but there's something wrong with you all.”“We've been in that position before. We practice time and score all the time. We realized we had to come together and execute at the end. We did a great job of it.

The big fella made the big plays.”“We take it one game at a time. We treat every game like it's our last one.”
