University of Saint Francis senior Tyler Gregory is the first Crossroads League Baseball Player of the Week for 2013.
Gregory, from South Bend and Penn High School, powered his way to the honor with two three-run home runs and a total of eight RBIs in the Cougars’ first two wins of the season over the weekend in Florida.
In USF’s first win of the season on Saturday, Gregory knocked in four runs in USF’s 9-6 victory over Cornerstone University with a three-run HR and a run-scoring double. He was 2-for-4 against CU and scored a run as well. He hammered a three-run HR in the 7-6 win at Northwood University, a team that is 18-9-1, in USF’s sixth game of the season. He also singled in a run, walked, stole a base and scored twice for the Cougars.
Gregory, who caught his first two games ever at the collegiate level over the weekend, batted .375 (3 for 8) and produced a 1.250 slugging percentage in the two wins while his two HRs gave him a total of four this season in six games.
