Fort Wayne Police had one person in custody after a shooting that left a man in critical condition Tuesday afternoon on the city's south side.
At about 1:11 p.m., police received several calls reporting multiple gunshots near the intersection of Rudisill Boulevard and Indiana Avenue, said Officer Raquel Foster, a Fort Wayne Police spokeswoman.
Police found a man with at least one gunshot wound lying at the southwest corner of the intersection, Foster said.
Witnesses at the scene provided police with the description of a white GMC Suburban-style vehicle that fled the area. Police stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Rudisill and Lafayette Street and detained one person for questioning, Foster said.
Foster did not have any details about the person who was detained. Police had not formally arrested that person as of Tuesday afternoon, she said.
The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The shooting is the city's fourth in the past week resulting in critical injury or death.
