A Fort Wayne man faces a drug charge after police alleged he tried to hide drugs in his underwear during a traffic stop.
Tremaine Barnett Jr., 29, of the 5400 block of Winter Street, has been charged with a Class D felony for possession of marijuana, hash oil, hashish, salvia, or a synthetic drug.
According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident that occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12 when an FWPD officer reported seeing a car traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Winter Street.
The officer chased and pulled the car over. The officer noted the passenger in the back seat, identified as Barnett, allegedly shoved his hand down the front of what appeared to be his underwear and then pulled his hand out. The officer allegedly could see an abnormal bulge in the man's underwear and a strong odor of marijuana was in the car. The officer alleged that because of Barnett's erratic behavior, the officer placed him in handcuffs, and put him in the back of the squad car. A later search produced 53.8 grams of a green-leafy-material that tested positive for THC in the Barnett's underwear, according to court documents.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving with a suspended license.
