Tuesday, March 19, 2013 - 12:01 am

Indiana Tech track and field team opened the 2013 outdoor season with a strong performance and one of its top runners was honored for his stellar runs.

The Warriors recently competed at the Coastal Caroline University Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Warrior junior Dontaey Paige, a Heritage High School alum, earned his third WHAC Track Athlete of the Week award after taking home the honor twice during the indoor season.

Paige broke the school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.55 to capture third place in the event. He helped smash another school record as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished in fourth place in 41.39. In the 200-meter dash, Paige finished eighth overall in 21.67.

The Warriors will be back on the track at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Collegiate Challenge on March 30.
