Faith briefs: Holy Week and Easter services listed

ANTHONY WAYNE FIRST CHURCH OF GOD, 6012 South Bend Drive, will have an Easter egg hunt, for ages 3 through Grade 5, 2-4 p.m. Saturday.CALVARY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6301 Winchester Road, will have these Holy Week services: Palm Sunday at 7 p.m. with “Seven Last Words” by Dubois presented by Calvary's Choir; Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. with Tenebrae Service with Communion; Good Friday Service at 7 p.m.; Easter Sunrise at 7:15 a.m. followed by breakfast; Easter Morning worship at 9:30 a.m.

COME AS YOU ARE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 7910 S. Anthony Blvd., will host Leading While Bleeding 2013, “Rising From the Dust,” 6-8 p.m. April 16-18 and at 10 a.m. April 21. Each night opens with concerns for our community in a forum setting, unity in worship and followed by dynamic speakers bringing understanding and wisdom on these issues.

CONCORDIA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, 6600 N. Clinton St., will have Easter Choral Evening Prayer at 4 p.m. April 7 in Kramer Chapel.

FOREST PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2100 Kentucky Ave., will hold a Palm Sunday service cantata “Forsaken — Remembering the Last Days of Christ” at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. The United Methodist Women will hold a sacrificial breakfast at 10 a.m.March 27. Holy Thursday service is at 7 p.m. March 28. Good Friday service takes place at noon at Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church, 1232 Crescent Ave. Easter service with music by the Sanctuary Choir and Carillon Bell Choir is at 10:15 a.m.

FORT WAYNE METAPHYSICAL CHAPEL, 2013 Spring St., will hold spring classes at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $3 per class. Topics include “The Art of Meditation Practice,” “The Chemistry of Thought” (continuation) and “Healing Techniques.”

GRACE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY, 200 Seminary Drive, Winona Lake, will have Gordon Nickel speak about “A Christian Response to Global Islam” at 7 p.m. Friday in Westminster Hall.

GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 10010 Aurora Place, will hold “A Mosaic of Faith” series at 7 p.m. April 2, 9 and 16. Sessions exploring Buddhism will be led by Michael Spath, professor of comparative religions. Child care is provided.

GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1811 Fairhill Road, will celebrate Holy Humor Sunday at 10:30 a.m. April 7. Wear a funny hat. An Easter egg hunt for all ages takes place 10 a.m.-noon March 30.

GREATER MOUNT ARARAT BAPTIST CHURCH, 2111 Edsall Ave., will hold a community Good Friday service at noon March 29.

LUTHERAN WOMEN'S MISSIONARY LEAGUE will hold a tri-zone rally with Fort Wayne East, North and South zones 8:30-11:30 a.m. April 13 at Faith Lutheran Church, 9251 Indiana 205, Churubusco. Fee is $6, includes continental breakfast. Registration: Mary Zelt at 627-2228 by April 7.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER community event takes place noon-1 p.m. May 2 at Grand Wayne Convention Center, 120 W. Jefferson Blvd.

NEW HAVEN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 630 Lincoln Highway E., New Haven, GriefShare video seminars and support group, 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, through April 30, in the parlor. ST. ALBAN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 7308 St. Joe Rd., will observe the Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m. Monday through March 27. Maundy Thursday, Holy Eucharist with Foot Washing is at 7 p.m., followed by an all night vigil. Holy Friday services are at 9 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Easter Sunrise service is at 6:30 a.m. with Rite II service at 10:15 a.m.

TRINITY ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 405 W. Wayne St., will hold a Passion worship service at 7 p.m. Thursday and Palm Sunday services and 8, 9 and 11 a.m. Journey to the Cross: A Hands-On Holy Week Experience takes place at 10 a.m. Sunday. Maundy Thursday service is at 12:50 and 7 p.m., with a light lunch after the 12:05 p.m. service for a $2 donation. Good Friday services include a liturgy of Good Friday with sign of the cross at 12:05 p.m., service of healing at 1:30 p.m. and a tenebrae service at 7 p.m. Easter vigil worship service is at 7 p.m. Saturday. Easter services are at 7:30, 9 and 11 a.m., with an Easter breakfast served 6:30-11 a.m.

TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1636 St. Marys Ave., will have Midweek Lenten service at 7 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. Friday. A Model Seder, a Passover supper presented by Jews for Jesus, takes place at 6:30 p.m. Monday; call 422-7931, or email trinity_lcms@hotmail.com for reservations or to provide part of the Seder. Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. Good Friday service will be 7:30 p.m. Holy Saturday Vigil will be 5 p.m. March 30. UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION, 5310 Old Mill Road, will have a study circle about “The Righteous Mind” at 10 a.m. Sunday.
