Easter dinner at Rescue Mission could serve 1,800

Tuesday, March 26, 2013 - 7:20 am

The Rescue Mission, 301 W. Superior St, will host its annual Easter meal Sunday.

The meal is provided free and is open to the public. The meal will be served noon-3 p.m., thanks to the help of more than 50 volunteers.

This year's hearty, home-style dinner will consist of baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, and sugar cream pie.

Last year, roughly 1,300 meals were served at the Rescue Mission's Easter meal. This year, the mission is planning for a crowd of 1,800.

After 110 years of growth and adaptation, the Rescue Mission remains steadfast in its mission to” provide, through the power of Jesus Christ, a home for the homeless, food for the hungry, and hope for their future,” in partnership with the caring businesses, agencies, churches and individuals in the Fort Wayne area.
