Allen County's unemployment rate decreases slightly in February

Allen County's unemployment rate fell from 9.1 percent in January to 8.9 percent in February, according to Indiana Department of Workforce data released Friday morning. Allen County has 15,492 people listed as unemployed, with another 157,759 people listed as employed.

Indiana's seasonably adjusted rate changed from 8.6 to 8.7 percent.

Of the counties surrounding Allen, Noble showed the greatest decrease in unemployment, moving from 10.4 percent down to 9.7 percent.

The rates of unemployment by county for February ranged from 6.5 percent in Hamilton, part of the Indianapolis-Carmel metro area, to 13.8 percent in Vermillion, a central Indiana county at the Illinois border.
